If you do a lot of photo and video shooting, then you should seriously consider getting a ring light. Not only is it functional but you’ll find it useful when you need quick lighting for your work.

It will not obviously completely replace quality studio lighting, but it works if you only require clean light for small shoots.

The ring light creates beautiful and professional-looking lighting that’s ideal for anyone who wants to improve the quality of their work. And since there are so many choices out there, it can truly be hard to choose the best one for your needs.

In this post we’re going to clear up all the confusion by listing the best ring light for product photography, as well as highlighting the benefits that the lights can bring.

1. Razer Ring Light

This well-made and very well packaged continuous LED ring light is great for video creators. It includes a tripod and two different types of mounting hardware for either a cell phone, or a small DSLR or camcorder.

Power is supplied via a USB cable (you must provide your own power supply, one isn’t included) and it can toggle between three different colour temperature settings and a wide range of brightness.

And since it is intended for use at close range, its light falls off sharply after about 3 feet (1 meter). This also explains why its permanently-attached power and control USB cable is so relatively short. You’ll need a USB extender if you’re not right next to a computer or if you don’t have a USB power bank.

This would be a better product if it had:

• A detachable USB-C power cable, at least 6 feet long
• Well-labelled controls on the light itself vs unlabelled black-on-black buttons on a flimsy inline remote

Some customers reported that their light died within 6-8 months of purchase, so it might not be the best one for a longer use.

2. Weeylite 18-inch (46 cm) RGB Ring Light

In this ring light the RGB function is so handy and provides more value than just having a regular ring light.

This light comes with a lot of additional props and the remote is pretty good. But the app is what is the best part about it.

It’s so much easier to change settings and see settings on the app vs. the remote. The remote does so much it is more difficult to get used to, but the app is easy and user friendly.

It has tons of different color settings and color changing options, even strobes. This ring light is super bright and has no problems lighting your object.

Lighting

This 18 inch RGB Ring Light with standard bi-Color mode 2500k-8500k, brightness adjustment 0%~100%, 36000 kinds of colorful lights and 17 special scenes modes.

Tripod Stand

Aluminum Alloy Light Stand is 19.3″ and Maximum height is 67″. The 18” circle light kit comes with a hot-shoe mount, with phone holder you can take photo vertical and horizontally and allows you to make selfie or live broadcasting easily.

3. PIXEL 19-inch (48 cm) Ring Light

This product nailed many requirements and met the expectations set for it. Not only is this ring light larger for around the same price as smaller ones, it is brighter, comes with the option to use batteries, and it’s much sturdier. 

The color temperature spans a wide range, and the brightness can be reduced to almost 1% of maximum brightness. One drawback for me was the front white lenses. 

The included power block comes with a pretty long power cord, and the use of a right angle barrel jack keeps the plug from getting pulled out by mistake or from gravity.

Some customers mentioned it came with missing parts but that customer service immediately replaced them.

Dimmable Light

Dimmable 19 inch 60W 3000(warm)-5800(cold)K with a wide dimming range from 1%-100%. The knob on the big ring light can easily and quickly adjust the brightness and color temperature.

Selfie Bluetooth Remote

Selfie Bluetooth Remote makes it easier and faster for you to take pictures. If your phone runs out of power while in use, USB QC3.0 will be able to provide you with a charging port, so you do not have to worry about running out of power.

Tripod Stand

The tripod of the circle light can be adjusted to the height you want at will, to meet the needs of different people using it. Tripod stand is made of aluminum alloy, stable and durable, lightweight and portable. The sunpak ring light is also very easy to assemble and use.

4. Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light

This ring light is very sturdy and adjustable for all the photo shoots on site.

First, the good: this light gives you what it promises: white light with customizable color temperature and brightness. It does this well, and the controls are fairly intuitive.

The only “trick” to be aware of is that the adjustment knob is also a button that changes modes. It’s capable of putting out a *lot* of light – it was actually too powerful for a recent shoot.

That shouldn’t count against it – for 99% of what you’d use a ring light for, this product will do the trick.

Now for the bad: the included stand is close to worthless. The top connection on the stand, the part that is responsible for keeping everything stable, wobbles a bit.

It doesn’t fall far, but it’s enough to make the light look like it’s about to fall over, and I would never trust it to hold a camera.

This light has been raved to be great as a cordless option. But both the batteries have to be fully charged to work so it runs out very quick and then you’d have to change to the corded option.

18in Ring Light

Adjust brightness & 3200-5600K color temperature range. Circle light tilts 180º, rotates 360º and removes from light stand. Great as computer ring light or selfie light.

Cordless & Lightweight

5. Westcott 18-inch (46 cm)LED Ring Light

This ring light has variable color temperature. Everything, including the stand fits nicely in the provided carrying case. You really can’t do better for the price, even if it’s not on the inexpensive end.

If you are going to use a ring light, this is closest to the right one to get. Westcott boasts a color reference index (CRI) of 97+. That might not be completely accurate, since there is a noticeable green shift at different intensity levels. This isn’t a huge problem, or likely even be noticed by most users.

The ring light has two “on” options: plugged-in and battery-powered.

Light quality and controls

Variable color temperature from 3200K tungsten to 5600K daylight matches any lighting environment, 97 CRI/TLCI color accuracy for flattering skin tones, dimmable light intensity from 0-100%, flicker-free operation for video, digital display screen with battery level indicator and dial for adjusting power and color temperature.

Mounting options

Includes 6.5’ aluminum light stand, swivel and mobile device cold shoe mounts, 1/4”-20 mount, and flexible gooseneck, multi-voltage AC adapter for use indoors and (2) NP-F750 batteries with charger for shooting on location up to 70 min.

6. IVISII 19-inch (48 cm) Ring Light

This light is extremely easy to set up. During travel appointments you can disassemble, pack, and reassemble it in under 5min.

The light itself can actually get so bright that you hardly ever have to put it past half intensity.

The cool, neutral, and warm light settings, the USB port, and height adjustability can really help streamline your content curation process.

Especially great is that the light can be tilted up to a 90° angle. It comes in handy when recording tutorials and needing to get a well light close-up of what you’re doing.

The light could’ve had two knobs to control the brightness and temperature separately, though.

This ring light didn’t have an option for two colors to be on full brightness at the same time when you’re around 4600-4800k. It can be a heat-related issue though.

There might also be issues with the cord being so short from the plug for the light to the adaptor box. The stand felt a bit flimsy and might feel unreliable.

Charging

You can charge your phone through the USB port on the back of the ring while you are taking videos. You can also power the light by plugging it in indoors. Using the light outdoors require batteries.

Color options

IVISII Ring Light can adjust the color temperature from 3000K to 5800K via knob without using color filters.

Holder and stand

Each IVISII Ring Light has a rotating (360 degrees) phone holder. The phone holder is suitable for most smartphones including Samsung and Huawei (2.5” – 3.5” / 65mm – 90mm width).

7. Yesker Ring Light 18 Inch LED

Some customer services have not been reliable, but this particular ring light gets more points because of Yesker’s warranty/customer service.

This light is bright. Even on the dimmest setting, it’s brilliant. The ring light itself is fantastic: it changes to three shades but because it fades to each color there really is multiple shades. The tripod is well made, solid metal and very sturdy. The bag it comes with is fine for the ring light itself but it could be nice to put everything in the bag including the tripod.

This ring light is easy to adjust and the little bluetooth clicker is great for selfies.

Color change

Yesker Ring Lights are controlled via the knob on the stand. You can adjust the color temperature from 3200K to 6000K without using color filters and it has a wide brightness dimming range from 10%-100%.

Sturdy stand

Adjustable height ranges from 31.5 inches to 73 inches. The stand is equipped with 1/4 inch screw thread on the top and made of aluminum alloy.

Pretty stable 3-leg stage design and solid locking system promises to keep all your stuff in safe without any wobble.

Phone holder

A hot shoe adapter for most DSLR camera, an adjustable phone holder (max can reach to 4.13″) for most smartphones, you can rotate your phone into vertical mode or horizontal mode freely without taking the phone out of the holder.

The stand is very sturdy and easy to adjust and easy to assemble. Although some customers did find the stand to be built with cheap feeling materials which affected the overall feel of its quality.

9. UBeesize 12’’ Ring Light

This UBeesize light is pretty decent for its’ price. Remote is small enough that you can set your phone camera timer then press the capture button on the fob, and hide it from the shot.

The lighting has a decent range, and you have the ability to rotate the phone holder to vertical or horizontal.

A great thing in this light is the tripod base, the build in the tripod is slim and doesn’t take up much floor space, which is ideal when shooting in tiny space.

The light is 12′, but it really feels larger than that. It gives off just as much width and brightness as the 18′ ones, but is way more manageable. You get 3 different modes and a nice range of dim to bright.

Extendable from 17in to 62 in. The tripod stand itself can be used as a selfie stick and phone tripod.

10. Sensyne 12” & 10” Ring Light with Tripod Stand

This is a great ring light especially for the low price. The remote control is easy to use and works great.

The tripod works for both phone and camera easily and comes with a nice varying case. Only thing you might want to have better for convenience is battery’s for the light but the cord it comes with is pretty long.

The cord to plug into the light is long enough so you don’t have to worry about pulling it out of the wall or knocking the tripod over.

This ring light is lightweight & compact but maybe not something super durable if you’re looking for heavy duty long term. It’s compact enough to travel or move around.

11. Inkeltech 21inch Ring Light with Tripod

Surprisingly, every piece in this set is constructed from high quality components and the performance is great.

The set is complete with a standard 1/4” camera mounting bracket, a 1/4” mini ball head mounting bracket and a universal cell phone bracket. No problems attaching and detaching all of the equipment repeatedly.

The brightness and the quality is great, the light itself is too heavy for the stand so you have to widen the legs a lot to keep it from falling over but other than that it’s pretty good.

Color change

INKELTECH Ring Light can adjust the color temperature from 3000K to 6000K via knob or remote without using color filters.

LCD screen on the back of the ring shows the situation of brightness, color temperature and battery.

Selfie control
