The Best 3 Point Slinger For Camera Enthusiasts

Looking for the perfect 3 point slinger for camera? Here are the most praised camera straps many photographers swear by for their photoshoots.

A typical 3 point slinger is a sturdy strap that goes over one shoulder and across your body, all while attached to your camera. You can usually attach one from the base plate where you’d attach your camera tripod.

The beauty of getting a 3 point slinger for camera is that you’ll have your hands free for other things that take place during your photoshoots like changing a lens, setting up reflectors and lights and quickly moving back into photography mode.

NO:1 Pick – The Best Camera Strap Recommended By Professional Photographers Worldwide

WAKA Camera Neck Sling

Looking for the perfect 3 point slinger for camera? Here are the most praised camera straps many photographers swear by for their photoshoots.

Technicalities:

Anti-falling plastic buckle to connect with the strap with the stainless steel screw to hold the plate.

Also has a quick release with an additional anti-slipping rubber padding to securely fasten the camera onto the strap

The neoprene pad distributes weight well, while the extra zipper pocket can hold extra memory cards and batteries.

This strap can hold and support full size SLR and zoom.

Review:

As a professional photographer, I’d say there’s many features and little details that make this WAKA strap pretty handy, useful, and trustworthy (at least so far!). I felt the shoulder padding to be quite plush, it would really require the equipment hanging from the strap to be quite heavy for it to feel uncomfortable.

The strap is attached via the tripod steel plate. The screw is even designed in a slot so you can adjust the attaching mechanism to your camera.

This means it has a single point of failure between the camera and the thing holding it from freefalling onto pavement, but the mount is so strong in my opinion, I can’t imagine it failing on its own.

If this is something you want to make sure doesn’t happen, there’s another extra strap that can be used to connect your camera strap mount to the shoulder strap itself. This way you can control the camera from swaying around too much.

At times this slinger was sliding down and there was no way to stabilize the length of the strap, maybe if there was a second stabilization clip coming with it, it wouldn’t be too bad.

The design of this sling makes it quite easy to have the camera ready at any time, always being just inches away from your hand. Being able to adjust the strap so that once you’re moving more, your camera can be held closer to your body.

Pros:

+Most of the pieces in this strap are metal

+Mostly metal pieces to have it sturdy and secure

Cons:

-The “safety tether” was as short as a standard hair tie – so not quite what was advertised

-It does have quite the mechanics, so if you’re a beginner, you might want to consider something simpler.

For a $17 product it does its job.

BlackRapid Camera Sling

Looking for the perfect 3 point slinger for camera? Here are the most praised camera straps many photographers swear by for their photoshoots.

Technicalities:

This 3 point slinger has ergonomically designed pad that literally hugs your left shoulder while being stable and comfortable.

You can use the integrated underarm stabilizer to keep the shoulder pad in place when you move, letting you move in various angles.

The materials are breathable and lightweight so that it’s easy to stay comfortable during a long photoshoot.

With a locking swivel carabiner and a lock-star safety gate you’ll be able to keep your gear secure.

Review:

I wanted to try Black Rapid and I quickly learned that its quarter-inch screw mount was also attachable to the side of my L-bracket, which means it doesn’t tie up the tripod mount and you can still have full tripod access. With this one you can keep the camera riding on your hip behind you so it won’t be in the way. And no detaching anything if you decide to take a shot.

I did have issues with the back side of the strap though; it felt that it wasn’t securely attached and would fall off easily once hanging loose. The hook looks to be open and wide and might get lost while traveling. Previously when the length was set by adjusting the ‘buckles’, that’s where it stayed.

New Photography Artist Submissions in 2023: Apply In March

This newer version seems to move – I’ll start the day with the camera nicely balanced just above hip height, by the end of the day I’m uncomfortable and the strap is dangling the camera much lower. Other than that, it feels secure and has so far served many photoshoots.

The lock mechanism might wear out over time. Looking at the design I can see that if you don’t have it tight it’s going to wear down. I imagine people also grab it by the thin edge to release it. By using the thicker parts at both ends instead for release and you can secure a longer lifespan for your strap.

At times I feel a little heavy with a neck strap for long events but with this sling it was a breeze. I felt like $75 was a bit much for this strap, especially once I read many that used it, had instances where the mount had unscrewed itself from the camera.

Pros:

+The underarm strap keeps it on your shoulder for a true cross body strap.

+Clips keep the camera in place when you’re not actively taking pics

Cons:

-Be sure to check which side you like to have your camera on, it says that it’s for right handed, but if you keep it on your left side, it’s not possible with this strap.

-When you use the strap you are risking your gear falling in the ground and damage that would bring

-Black Rapid was also reported to have nonexistent customer service, which will become a problem if you do encounter difficulties with your product.

Altura Photo Camera Strap

Looking for the perfect 3 point slinger for camera? Here are the most praised camera straps many photographers swear by for their photoshoots.

Technicalities:

As the previous one, this strap is lightweight made with neoprene pad distributing the weight evenly. Sitting nicely on the shoulder and is equipped with a zipper pocket to store extra batteries and memory cards.

Durable reinforced solid metal plate (not plastic!) securely fastens your camera onto the strap. The plate also has a rubber bottom to avoid any slipping or scratches.

Easy to attach to a tripod if needed. 90-day guarantee.

Review:

Walk-around shooting has made pretty comfortable with this Altura neck strap. The material on the strap feels to be made out of quality materials, which is always a bonus – even if it should actually be the minimum requirement.

This strap far exceeded my expectations for comfort and after spending long days walking around with this rig, I quickly put to rest my fear of damage due to strap or mount failure.

This Is Why 35mm Film Cameras Are So Popular And Why You Should Invest In One

This 3 point slinger for camera allows you to hang in a convenient, out-of-the way position on your body, but always at the ready for a quick shot. Storage is a very nice touch and liked being able to carry spare cards, batteries, etc. in it.

What I found I didn’t like was how much the pad moved around after you take a camera shot. I always need to readjust so that the pad is on my shoulder which gets annoying after awhile. I also found the adjustment of the strap length was not as suitable for my height as I’d hope for and wasn’t always comfortable with it (I’m 5’3”).

Pros:

+The strap is comfortable fit and it is adjustable to suit one’s height (unless if you’re shorter than 5’4” )

+strap holds up rather nicely to it with no problems

+Easy to move across the body

Cons:

-Not the best if you’re on the shorter side
